Tudor Ranger’s New 36mm Dune Edition
What’s New
Tudor’s Ranger series has always represented rugged simplicity a watch built to perform without shouting for attention. Its heritage traces back to the British North Greenland Expedition of the early 1950s, where Tudor field watches proved their reliability in brutal conditions. Over the years, the Ranger evolved from its compact 34mm origins into several modern reinterpretations. The 2014 41mm comeback leaned heavily on vintage cues, while the 2022 39mm release refined the formula with cleaner lume and a more balanced wrist presence.
Now, Tudor introduces another thoughtful evolution: the new 36mm Ranger, accompanied by a warm, softly toned “Dune” white dial. This fresh colorway brings a universal appeal and marks one of the most handsome and versatile variations the Ranger line has seen in a long time. For those who prefer the mid-size feel, the Dune dial also appears in the 39mm version.
Inside the New Ranger 36
The 36mm Ranger keeps the iconic oversized Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6, and 9, but this time Tudor changes the lume approach. The black numerals remain unlumed, while small lume plots are positioned beside them a subtle update that gives the dial a more refined and contemporary layout. The familiar handset, complete with the red-tipped seconds hand, stays intact, preserving the Ranger’s recognizable silhouette.
The case is crafted from brushed 316L stainless steel and maintains the Ranger’s reputation for durability with 100 meters of water resistance. Power comes from Tudor’s in-house MT5400 movement, a COSC-certified caliber with a robust 70-hour power reserve ideal for weekend wearers who rotate watches.
Buyers can choose between a brushed steel bracelet with the brand’s T-fit rapid adjustment system or a comfortable fabric strap. Pricing remains competitive at $3,700 on bracelet and $3,350 on fabric.
Our Take
The Ranger has always held a quiet place in Tudor’s lineup, overshadowed at times by the star power of the Black Bay family. But the new 36mm Ranger, especially with the Dune dial, feels like the version that finally gets everything right. The proportions are modern yet faithful, the dial is clean without losing character, and the price point lands firmly in the sweet spot for enthusiasts looking for a capable everyday watch with heritage behind it.
It’s a piece that invites real adventure not just the idea of it.
